TRAFFIC ALERT: BLASTING DETOUR WESTBOUND ROUTE 11/460 BLOCKED BY TRACTOR-TRAILER INCIDENT
Large boulder has fallen into roadway as part of I-81 blasting

SALEM – Both lanes of westbound Route 11/460 in Montgomery County are currently blocked due to a traffic incident involving a dump truck running into an oversized tractor-trailer trailer.  This route serves as the detour during blasting operations on Interstate 81 as part of the truck climbing lane construction project.

The incident occurred near Route 11/460’s intersection with Route 633 (Dark Run Road) just north of Shawsville.  Traffic on westbound Route 11/460 is currently backed up approximately six miles.  Westbound Route 11/460 is expected to reopen around 2 p.m.

As part of today’s blasting, a large boulder has fallen onto southbound I-81 near mile marker 124.  The boulder will need broken up before it can be completely removed.

Southbound I-81 traffic currently is still being detoured onto Route 11/460.  There is no estimate of when southbound I-81 will reopen to traffic.
