TRAFFIC ALERT: TRAFFIC TO BE DETOURED AROUND A SECTION OF ROUTE 43 IN BEDFORD COUNTY TOMORROW

SALEM – On Monday, Aug. 8, starting at 8 a.m., traffic will be detoured around a section of Route 43 in Bedford County due to repairs to the roadway resulting from a waterline leak.  The section of Route 43 that will be closed extends between the Bedford City limits and Route 644 (Fancy Farm Road).

Motorists can detour around the closure using Longwood Avenue to Route 122 to Route 644.  The detour is estimated to be in place from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.  Message boards will be in place to advise motorists of the closure.

Route 43 currently is open to traffic because crews were able to make temporary repairs.  However, the road will have to be closed again tomorrow morning so final repairs can be completed.
