TRAFFIC ALERT: GLENDALE ROAD PROJECT IN GALAX TO AFFECT TRAFFIC

SALEM – Beginning Monday, March 14, new traffic patterns will go into place at the Glendale Road and Route 58 intersection in Galax due a $1.2 million road construction project to reconfigure the intersection and install a new traffic signal.

Motorists traveling west on Glendale Road will need to use alternate routes such as Larkspur Lane or Allen Lane before reaching the intersection of Glendale Road and Route 58. Signs will be in place to advise motorists of these changes.

During construction, Route 58 traffic will still be able to turn onto Glendale Road, but drivers should be aware that traffic will be shifted into a new pattern to make this movement.   Motorists should use caution.

Work will affect about 0.1 mile of Glendale Road at its intersection with Route 58.  The project also entails building a new retaining wall along westbound Glendale Road, adding sidewalks and installing curb and gutter.

Work on the project is expected to be completed in October.
