TRAFFIC ALERT: EXPECT TRAFFIC CHANGES ON ROUTE 58 HILSVILLE BYPASS
Entire bypass is expected to open to traffic later this month
SALEM – Motorists should be aware of two upcoming traffic changes planned on the Route 58 Hillsville Bypass project. Drivers are reminded to pay particular attention to signs and be alert to changing traffic patterns when travelling on Route 58 around Hillsville.
First, on Friday, Aug. 12, westbound Route 58 traffic at its eastern interchange with Route 58 Business will be shifted onto a new ramp. Drivers should use caution.
Second, starting Tuesday, Aug. 16, eastbound Route 58 Bypass will be closed between its western interchange with Route 58 Business and the interchange at Route 52 due to paving. This section of the bypass will remain closed until Friday, Aug. 19. Eastbound Route 58 traffic will need to use Route 58 Business from Tuesday, Aug. 16 until Friday, Aug. 19.
The remaining 3.7-miles of the 5.2-mile Route 58 Bypass could open to traffic on Wednesday, Aug. 24. This date is tentative and could be adjusted depending on weather and work schedule.
The project is expected to be completed by November.
