TRAFFIC ALERT: BOAT RAMP TO REMAIN CLOSED DUE TO PEPPERS FERRY BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION

SALEM – The boat ramp to the New River located beneath the Route 114 bridge at the Pulaski and Montgomery County line was closed in June 2011 due to construction on the new bridge.

The Virginia Department of Transportation had announced that the contractor replacing the bridge could reopen the boat ramp for public use sometime in July 2011.

However, in the interest of public safety, the ramp will need to remain closed throughout the duration of the project.  Work on the new bridge is expected to be completed in November 2014.

Boaters will need to seek alternate access and egress points.  Signs have been posted to advise of the boat ramp closure.
