I-81 TRUCK CLIMBING LANE BLASTING ALTERED FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY TRAFFIC
Blasting will not occur Nov. 23, 24 and 25.

SALEM –The regular weekday blasting schedule on the project to build a truck climbing lane in Montgomery County on southbound I-81 between mile markers 120 and 125 will be altered for holiday travel. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and design-build contractor, CH2MHILL Constructors Inc., will not detonate charges November 23, 24 and 25.

Blasting normally occurs Monday through Friday at approximately 11 a.m. with detours beginning at 10:30 a.m. As usual, no blasts will be scheduled Saturday and Sunday. The daily blasting detour will return to its regular scheduled time at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 28.

Blasting on the truck climbing lane project is expected to continue through spring 2012. Work on the truck climbing lane project is expected to be completed in November 2013.
