TRAFFIC ALERT: MOTORISTS SHOULD EXPECT NEW TRAFFIC PATTERNS AT NORTH FRANKLIN AND CAMBRIA STREET INTERSECTION
SALEM – Motorists should watch for new traffic patterns at the intersection of North Franklin Street and Cambria Street in the Town of Christiansburg beginning Wednesday, Sept. 1. Changes are being made to the lane configurations at this intersection to help facilitate better traffic flow in response to an anticipated increase in traffic at this intersection when Blacksburg Middle School students are bussed to the old Christiansburg Middle School this fall.
Weather permitting, the changes will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 1 and will include changing the designated right turn lane from North Franklin Street to Cambria Street to a shared right turn/through lane. In addition, motorists will be required to stop instead of yielding when making a right turn from Cambria Street onto North Franklin Street.
On Tuesday, Sept. 14, the eastbound through lane on Cambria Street will be changed to a shared through/left turn lane to allow for dual left turns onto North Franklin Street.
VDOT will place signs warning of the new traffic patterns on each of these approaches.
