TRAFFIC ALERT: A PORTION OF ROUTE 311 WILL BE CLOSED IN CRAIG COUNTY JULY 16-19

SALEM – Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, July 16 through 6 a.m. Monday, July 19, a portion of Route 311 in Craig County will be closed to through traffic.  The road will be closed in this area while crews replace the Route 311 bridge over a branch of John’s Creek.  The bridge is located approximately one and a half miles north of Route 42 in New Castle.

A detour will be established as listed below.  Motorists should be advised that the detour is approximately 13 miles long and will add approximately 20 minutes to their travel time.

From the Roanoke area:  (Route 311 north):
From Route 311 northbound go right onto Route 615 (Craig’s Creek Road) and
Continue straight on Route 615 (Craig’s Creek Road)
Go left onto Route 609 (Sand Plant Road)
Go left onto Route 611 (Peaceful Valley Road)
Go right onto Route 311.  

From the West Virginia area: (Route 311 south):
From Route 311 southbound go left onto Route 611 (Peaceful Valley Road)
Go right onto Route 609 (Sand Plant Road)
Go right onto Route 615 (Craig’s Creek Road) and
Continue straight on Route 1004 (Market Street)
Go left onto Route 311.
