TRAFFIC ALERT: INTERSTATE 77 BRIDGE WORK TO CAUSE TRAFFIC CHANGES AT MILE MARKER 13 IN CARROLL COUNTY

SALEM – Work is underway to rehabilitate a pair of bridges on Interstate 77 in Carroll County.  The bridges are located at mile marker 13.7 and carry northbound and southbound I-77 over Little Reed Island Creek.

Motorists are advised to be alert to changing traffic patterns on northbound and southbound I-77 in Carroll County.   In the months ahead, several traffic pattern changes are expected, especially during nighttime hours.  The exact date of the changes may be adjusted as they are weather dependent.   Signs will be in place on I-77 to alert motorists to these changes in traffic pattern.

On Tuesday, June 8, a traffic change is planned for southbound I-77 between mile markers 13 and 14.  Two lanes of traffic will be shifted to travel in the right lane and on the paved right shoulder of southbound I-77.  The left lane and left shoulder of southbound I-77 will be closed.

On Sunday, June 13, a similar traffic change is planned for northbound I-77 also between mile markers 13 and 14.  The two lanes of northbound I-77 traffic will be shifted to travel in the right lane and on the paved right shoulder of northbound I-77.  The left lane and left shoulder of northbound I-77 will be closed.

The speed limit on northbound and southbound I-77 will be reduced to 55 mph in this work zone.
