MOTORISTS ADVISED TO USE CAUTION ON ROUTE 636 IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY

SALEM – Route 636 (Friendship Road) in Shawsville has reopened to traffic after a mud and rock slide closed a portion of the road on Monday, Jan. 25.  Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) continue to work to remove debris from the area.  While crews complete cleanup work traffic is moving through this area on the shoulder of the roadway.

Motorists are advised to reduce speed and use caution in this area.  The cleanup effort could take one to two more weeks.

Before travelling, motorists can find current road conditions by calling 511 or visiting www.511Virginia.org.
