TRAFFIC ALERT: EXPECT TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGES ON ROUTE 114 WIDENING PROJECT IN CHRISTIANSBURG

SALEM – On Thursday, Sept. 24, traffic patterns are expected to change on the Peppers Ferry Road (Route 114) widening project in Christiansburg.  This change is expected to go into effect on Thursday afternoon if weather permits.

One lane of traffic on Route 114 will remain open in each direction, but vehicles on both ends of the project will be shifted onto new roadway.  Motorists are advised to be alert to changes in this work zone and use caution.

In Christiansburg, Route 114 is being widened near the New River Valley Mall, between Stafford Drive and Dominion Drive. The project entails widening the road from two lanes to five, with two through lanes in each direction and a center turn lane.

The project is expected to be completed in fall 2010.
