COLONIAL HEIGHTS — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has completed the Route 54 bridge replacement over Interstate 95 in Ashland, on schedule. The eighteen month project replaced the Rt. 54 superstructure over I-95 as well as raised the vertical clearance both north and southbound I-95 to 16.5 feet. Approximately 22,000 vehicles cross the bridge each day. Project costs were approximately $10 million.

The speed limit has been restored to 70 miles per hour on I-95 in both directions between mile markers 90 and 93. The posted speed limit has also been restored on Rt. 54.
