Road closed to through traffic between the Louisa County line and Shiloh Church Road

COLONIAL HEIGHTS—Effective immediately, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has closed the Parsons Road (Route 608) bridge over Locust Creek in Hanover County due to damage sustained by heavy rains. For drivers’ safety, VDOT has closed the road to through traffic between the Louisa County line and Shiloh Church Road (Route 680).

“The recent heavy rain has weakened the bridge’s support spans,” said Gary Martin, district bridge engineer. “Once the rain subsides, we’ll perform a comprehensive inspection and determine a repair schedule so that we can reopen the bridge to traffic as soon as possible.”

Drivers should use the following detour:

  • Westbound Heritage Road – Take Bagby Road (Route 654) west to Belsches Road (Route 618) east to Shiloh Church Road (Route 680) west back to Parsons Road (Route 608) west.
  • Eastbound Heritage Road – Take Shiloh Church Road (Route 680) east to Belsches Road (Route 618) west to Bagby Road (Route 654) east back to Parsons Road (Route 608) east.
