RICHMOND AREA INTERSTATES AND PRIMARY ROUTES CLEAR
Many secondary routes remain snow covered; Use caution
COLONIAL HEIGHTS –Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews and its contractors made good progress plowing and treating major routes overnight. This morning, drivers will find all interstates, primary and heavily-traveled secondary routes in the Richmond region clear of snow and ice. Many neighborhood streets and rural secondary routes remain snow covered and slick. Drivers are advised to use caution. As temperatures rise today, crews will focus on removing snow and ice from these areas.
Drivers are encouraged to check VDOT’s 511 travel website, www.511virginia.org, before traveling. The website is updated in real time with weather and road conditions for all highways in Virginia. Once on the road, VDOT’s 511 mobile app provides real-time traffic and weather information for both iPhone and Android platforms. Travelers can also call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for real-time information on traffic and road conditions.
