COLONIAL HEIGHTS — Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Commissioner of Highways, Greg Whirley, approved six contracts this month totaling approximately $7.1 million for Richmond District construction and maintenance.

American Infrastructure-VA Inc. of Glen Allen was awarded a $4.5 million contract for paving and guardrail upgrades on I-95 from South Crater Road (mile marker 51) to Temple Avenue (mile marker 54) in Colonial Heights. Estimated completion is December 2011.

A Annandale Inc. of Dumfries was awarded a $400,000 contract for paving and marker replacement. Estimated completion is August 2012.

J. Sanders Construction Company of West Point was awarded a $353,000 contract to extend the right lane on Parham Road to West Broad Street and to add sidewalks in Henrico County.  Estimated completion is May 2012.

DLB Inc. of Hillsville was awarded a $340,000 contract for pipe replacement from Selma Road (Route 657) in Amelia County to Chapel Road (Route 600) in Lunenburg County. Estimated completion is December 2011.

L.S. Lee Inc. of Richmond was awarded $974,000 for guardrail installation and replacement on I-95 from the Appomattox River bridge to Lewistown Road (Route 802). Estimated completion is May 2012.

The Lane Construction Corporation of Chesire, Connecticut was awarded $507,000 to upgrade signs and sign structures on various interstate routes in the Richmond district. Estimated completion is August 2012.
