COLONIAL HEIGHTS — Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Commissioner of Highways, Greg Whirley, approved four contracts this month totaling approximately $3.5 million for Richmond District construction and maintenance.

Midasco VA LLC of Elkridge, Maryland was awarded a $2.1 million contract for installation of a fiber optic line on I-95 from Iron Bridge Road (mile marker 61) to Maury Street (mile marker 73) in Chesterfield. Estimated completion is October 2012.

New Look Construction LLC of Lorton was awarded a $247,000 contract for landscaping and beautification of the I-95 gateway into Richmond from Franklin Street to the Martin Luther King Bridge. Estimated completion is August 2012.

Biggs Construction Company Inc. of Meherrin was awarded a $764,000 contract for pipe culvert replacement and rehabilitation in various locations in Dinwiddie, Prince George and Nottoway counties. Estimated completion is May 2012.

B.P. Short & Son Paving Co. Inc. of Petersburg was awarded a $413,000 contract for paving between Goodes Ferry Road (Route 630) to the south corporate limits of South Hill in Mecklenburg County. Estimated completion is December 2011.
