During the closure, construction crews will begin pouring the concrete deck for the new Rt. 5 bridge. For safety reasons, motorists will be restricted from using the bridge during this activity. Restricting traffic will also allow the contractor to complete the new bridge six weeks ahead of schedule. VDOT plans to close the bridge four additional nights (non-consecutive) over the next three months to expedite the concrete deck installation for the new bridge.
The first overnight bridge closure will be from 11 p.m. July 10 through 5 a.m. July 11.
