Forest Mills Road Bridge Replacement Complete
Completed ahead of schedule and under budget

LEESBURG –The replacement Forest Mills Road (Route 727) bridge over Crooked Run opened to traffic today, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Construction began in April and was closed to traffic during construction, which allowed it to be completed more quickly. The project was completed about two weeks ahead of schedule and under budget.

The new single-lane bridge has a similar alignment to the previous bridge, which was built in 1932. Safety improvements include higher railings on the bridge and the addition of guardrail on the bridge approaches.

The bridge averages 230 vehicles a day, and is projected to carry 300 vehicles a day in 2027.

Sagres Construction of Alexandria was the contractor for the $2.9 million project.
