NIGHTTIME CLOSURES OF I-66 EASTBOUND IN GAINESVILLE
Installation of overhead sign near mile marker 42

GAINESVILLE – Lane closures will occur between 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 and 5 a.m. Thursday, June 2 on eastbound I-66 near mile marker 42, between Route 15 and Route 29 to install a dynamic message sign associated with the I-66 widening project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Single-lane closures will begin at approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday night. Intermittent total closures of up to 20 minutes will begin at approximately midnight. One travel lane will be reopened after each total closure to allow traffic queues to clear.

The work is part of the widening project adding one regular and one HOV lane in each direction from Route 29 in Gainesville to Route 15 in Haymarket. The $65 million project is scheduled for completion in August.
