VDOT TO HOST 11TH ANNUAL TRANSPORTATION CAREER FAIR
100 exhibitors and more than 1,300 students will attend Oct. 8

MANASSAS ─ The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Office of Civil Rights will host its 11th Annual Transportation Career Fair for high school students on Thursday, October 8 at the Prince William County Fairgrounds in Manassas from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The career fair exposes high school students to the rewarding and diverse careers in the transportation industry, including engineering, construction, architecture, environmental and technology.

More than 1,300 students from high schools in northern Virginia are expected to attend and view exhibits from 100 companies, government agencies and institutions of higher learning. That’s up from 91 exhibitors last year. At least 130 pieces of equipment, such as helicopters and fire trucks, will be on display. The event will feature hands-on participation, demonstrations, corporate displays, contests, giveaways, and scholarship opportunities. 29 high schools registered students for this event.

“Our goal is to show high school students first-hand that fulfilling career opportunities exist in transportation, construction and engineering along with a variety of support industries,” said Leslie Martin, VDOT Civil Rights Manager.
