ROUTE 50 WIDENING TO REACH MILESTONE SUNDAY NIGHT
Westbound traffic to be shifted to permanent lanes in Fairfax County

CHANTILLY— On Sunday, July 19, westbound Route 50 traffic will be shifted to the three new lanes between Lee Road and Pleasant Valley Road (Fairfax), according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

There will be lane closures during the work to complete the traffic shift from 7 p.m. Sunday to 5:30 a.m. Monday, July 20. The traffic signals at Lee Road, Avion/Airline Parkway and Stonecroft Boulevard will be adjusted to accommodate the shift.

Access to or from any of the side streets or entrances coming off Route 50 will not be affected during the work, which is weather permitting.

Motorists can expect delays and are advised to consider alternate routes.

The $94.9 million project to widen Route 50 from four to six lanes between Route 28 in Fairfax County and Poland Road in Loudoun County is scheduled for completion in November. For more information, visit the project page.
