FINAL MILLING/PAVING BEGINS AT STRINGFELLOW PROJECT
Daytime lane and intersection closures
CHANTILLY—Crews begin several weeks of final milling and paving today at the Stringfellow Road widening project in Chantilly.
Milling begins today to tie in intersections at Fair Lakes Boulevard, Route 50 and streets between. Final paving will begin around April 17 and last through May 4.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during the work, as there will be one lane closed in each direction daily, as well as intermittent intersection detours. All lanes will reopen each afternoon. Fairfax County Police will direct traffic during intersection closures.
The $62 million project includes widening two miles of Stringfellow Road to two lanes in each direction from Fair Lakes Boulevard to Route 50, as well as other improvements. The new lanes opened to traffic in December 2014, about six months ahead of schedule.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in July 2015.
