ASHTON AVENUE DETOUR STARTS MONDAY
Two-week closure planned for emergency culvert replacement

MANASSAS Beginning Monday, October 26, Ashton Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Crestwood Drive and Lomond Drive for about two weeks while crews replace a damaged culvert, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and take alternate routes to minimize impacts.

Traffic on Ashton Avenue will be detoured via Lomond Drive, Route 234 Business onto Crestwood Drive (see map). Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists. Drivers will still have access to local residences and businesses.

VDOT signal engineers will monitor traffic and adjust signal timing as needed.

Crews will finish some remaining work after the closure with temporary lane closures or traffic shifts over another two weeks.

Electronic message signs are in place to notify drivers of the scheduled work.

Ashton Avenue carries about 20,000 vehicles per day.
