EMERGENCY REPAIRS UNDERWAY ON DRY MILL ROAD
New detour in place through next weekend
LEESBURG—Emergency repairs to a section of Dry Mill Road that collapsed yesterday are expected to take about ten days, according to the Virginia Department of transportation. Heavy rains caused the undermining where a 48-inch water pipe is located. VDOT estimates reopening the road to traffic on Monday, June 23, weather permitting.
Dry Mill Road remains closed between Woodburn Road and Thomas Mill Road for the contractor to replace the pipe and repair the road.
Signs are in place to detour drivers via Woodburn Road, Harmony Church Road, and E.Colonial Highway (Rt. 7) (See a Google map of the detour). This route will better handle the traffic volume than the temporary detour put in place yesterday.
About 3300 vehicles per day use Dry Mill Road.
