Nov. 19 at Cooper Middle School

Fairfax—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold an information meeting Nov. 19 on plans to allow traffic to use the left shoulder of northbound I-495 from where the 495 Express Lanes end to the George Washington Parkway. The 1.5-mile project will add capacity, making it safer and easier to merge in the area where the Express Lanes join the regular lanes. The shoulder will be lane-controlled and used during peak travel periods.

The public can stop by between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Cooper Middle School, 977 Balls Hill Road, McLean, VA 22101.

The meeting will be an open-house format with VDOT staff on hand to discuss project information and answer questions.

Written and oral comments may be given at the meeting. They may also be mailed to Mr. Paul Nishimoto, Project Manager at the Virginia Department of Transportation, 4975 Alliance Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030 or emailed to through Nov. 29, 2013. Please reference “I-495 Shoulder Use Project” in the subject line.
