Board seeks input on highway, rail and transit projects

FAIRFAX — On Tuesday, Nov. 13, the Commonwealth Transportation Board will host a meeting in Fairfax for the public to provide input on the development of the Six-Year Improvement Program for fiscal years 2014-2019. The program includes multimodal highway, rail and public transportation initiatives.

The meeting will be held at VDOT’s district office at 4975 Alliance Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030, beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 30 was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy.

From 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the public can visit displays and meet representatives from the Virginia departments of Transportation, Rail and Public Transportation, Aviation, Motor Vehicles and the Port Authority.  

Following the open house, individuals can speak for up to three minutes or submit written comments. Speakers may register at the door; there is no pre-registration.

A draft of the new SYIP will be available next spring, and public hearings will be held before the program is finalized in June 2013.
