LANES CLOSED ON EASTBOUND I-66 OVER ROUTE 29
Expect delays Saturday as crews perform emergency pavement marking
CHANTILLY – The right lane and shoulder of eastbound I-66 over Route 29 in Chantilly remain closed after the bridge was struck by a flatbed truck this morning. According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the impact caused a crack in one of the beams under the exterior eastbound lane.
Beginning at 6 a.m. tomorrow, emergency crews will re-stripe the pavement and shift traffic to continue to accommodate four lanes on I-66. Motorists can expect alternating lane closures so that crews can finish the work before forecasted rain begins in the evening. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes in this area tomorrow if possible to avoid delays
The emergency marking is needed to ensure all four lanes of eastbound I-66 are available for rush hour Monday morning
Plans are underway to schedule the necessary repairs to the overpass.
