AVOID BELTWAY INNER LOOP AT ROUTE 50 TONIGHT AND TOMORROW MORNING
Two lanes closed for broken water main; motorists are urged to use alternate routes

CHANTILLY—Three travel lanes will remain open on northbound I-495 (the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway) between I-66 and Route 50 through rush hour this evening, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. One travel lane and one acceleration lane have been closed since a water main broke early this morning.

Motorists are urged to use alternate westbound routes such as Braddock Road, Little River Turnpike and Gallows Road. VDOT engineers are adjusting signal timing on these alternate routes to help move the expected increase in traffic.

Falls Church crews will resume work on the water main after rush hour tonight. VDOT will continue to update motorists with lane closures as information is available.
