TWO CAMPBELL COUNTY ROUTES REMAIN CLOSED
Roads damaged during recent storms
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Two Campbell County roads closed following a major August 2 rainstorm will remain closed until further notice.
The severely damaged culvert under Route 842, Greenwell Court will be replaced with a concrete box culvert. The road may be closed for approximately 90 days depending upon weather and the availability of materials. The estimated cost of the repairs is $200,000.
The culvert under Route 1532, Jefferson Drive was also damaged during the storm. The culvert will be repaired with a smooth steel liner and additional pipe to allow the culvert to function better during significant weather events. The estimated cost of the repair is $155,000. The road may be closed for approximately 60 days depending upon weather and the availability of materials.
Currently, VDOT staff are working to secure property easements and environmental permitting for each project.
