VDOT AND PUBLIC KEEPING WATCHFUL EYES ON CONDITIONS
LYNCHBURG —Another round of wet weather has the public and the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) keeping eyes trained on road conditions. While light rain has fallen much of the morning, steady heavy rain later today and overnight into Saturday is expected to produce flooding and result in downed trees.
The public is encouraged to stay off roads in severe weather, if possible. If travel is necessary, motorists should drive for the conditions ---slow down, do not drive through flowing water on road surfaces and be aware of possible debris in roadways.
Road conditions and other real-time travel information are available at 511Virginia.org, on the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia. Local updates are also posted to Twitter.com/VaDOTLynchburg.
