ROADS COULD BE ICY THIS MORNING
Motorists urged to use caution

LYNCHBURG — A light coating of ice and snow covers many roads in the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) this morning and motorists are urged to use caution on roadways.

VDOT crews have monitored conditions throughout the night and taken steps necessary to ensure that roads are maintained in the best condition possible. Sand and other abrasives continue to be applied, as needed.

If traveling, motorists are urged to use caution, allow extra time and know the conditions before leaving their location. Real-time travel information may be found at www.511virginia.org or by dialing 511.  Lynchburg District VDOT updates will also be made on the district’s Twitter account, @VaDOTLynchburg.

Additional information about VDOT’s preparations for winter weather, how the agency responds to ice and snow, Frequently Asked Questions, how technology is used to fight winter weather and other information may be found online at http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/snow.asp
