ROADS COULD BE ICY LATE TUESDAY, EARLY WEDNESDAY
VDOT Lynchburg District crews mobilizing overnight; motorists urged to use caution
LYNCHBURG — With a Winter Weather Advisory in effect tonight and early tomorrow for portions of the commonwealth, crews in the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are preparing equipment and materials to respond and urging motorists to use caution should travel become necessary.
Icy conditions are possible from late Tuesday night through mid-morning Wednesday in much of the district which includes the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward. Because precipitation is expected to begin as rain/freezing rain, crews are unable to pretreat roadways or structures.
Motorists should check road and weather conditions before traveling. Real-time travel information may be found at www.511virginia.org or by dialing 511. Lynchburg District VDOT updates will be made on the district’s Twitter account, @VaDOTLynchburg.
