Conditions improve across Lynchburg District

LYNCHBURG - (2 p.m.) Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are continuing to clean up after the snowstorm that left roads snow-covered across the ten-county district.

Crews have pushed snow at least once on every major route in the district and have managed to reach almost 50% of secondary roads. Today’s warmer temperatures and sunny skies are helping the salt that was applied to work well. However, motorists should be alert to re-freeze overnight and into the early hours of Wednesday.

Motorists should also be aware to the possibility of additional wintry weather on Wednesday for much of the state and take steps now to plan accordingly.

Road conditions and other real-time travel information can be found on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia. VDOT updates are also on Facebook and the district’s Twitter account, @VaDOTLynchburg.
