Milling and paving to start Sunday night, July 12

LYNCHBURG – Crews under contract to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin night milling and paving operations on Route 460 Business East (Timberlake Road) starting Sunday night, July 12. This work is being done at night to limit the impact to motorists on this heavily traveled roadway.

Milling is the process of removing the upper portion of the paved surface. The result is a better foundation for pending paving operations.

This work will be done from Route 622 (Waterlick Road) to the Lynchburg City Limits. Flaggers and other traffic control devices will be in use and motorists are urged to be alert to changes in traffic pattern and possible delays.

The entire operation is expected to be complete by Friday, July 31; however, these operations can be affected by weather.
