MOTORISTS SHOULD BE AWARE OF ROAD CONDITIONS
VDOT crews prepared to respond to wintry mix

LYNCHBURG – Motorists should take weather conditions into consideration before venturing out today and into the early hours of Saturday. Icy conditions on some roadways and structures are possible.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews in the Lynchburg District have readied their equipment and restocked their supplies and will respond, as appropriate. In preparation, crews responsible for roadways at the higher elevations of Amherst and Nelson Counties took steps necessary to address snow and freezing rain by applying brine on major roads. Pre-treatment was not undertaken at lower level where the storm is expected to begin as or be preliminary rain.

For up-to-date information about this and other highway work zones, call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.  Updates will also be available on VDOT’s Facebook account and the district’s Twitter account, @VaDOTLynchburg.
