LYNCHBURG DISTRICT: VDOT PREPARES FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF WINTER WEATHER
For up-to-date information, visit www.511Virginia.org or use the VDOT 511 mobile app

LYNCHBURG—Another round of winter weather is expected across the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and VDOT crews are prepared for what may come our way.

VDOT’s goal is to have every state-maintained road passable within 48 hours after a storm ends.  Efforts begin with major roadways and move to secondary roads and neighborhood streets.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid travel, particularly at the height of the storm, if possible. If travel is necessary, take every precaution, including driving slowly, allowing extra time and being prepared for icy bridges, overpasses and roads.

Road conditions and other real-time travel information can be found on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia. VDOT updates are also on Facebook and the district’s Twitter account, @VaDOTLynchburg.

The Lynchburg District includes the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
