LYNCHBURG DISTRICT: MOTORISTS SHOULD USE CAUTION THIS MORNING ON SECONDARY ROADS
Works continuing on secondary roads today

LYNCHBURG -   (4 am.)  Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation plowed secondary roads (those numbered 600 and above) through the night and will continue working on these routes today.

Many of these roads have already been plowed as part of VDOT’s goal to have every state-maintained road passable within 48 hours after the end of a storm. Passable means that the road has been plowed but packed snow and ice may remain due to the cold temperatures.

Primary and major secondary roads and connectors are generally clear; however, motorists should be aware of the possibility of isolated slick spots particularly in cooler areas such as bridges, overpasses, ramps, higher elevations and shaded areas.

Road conditions and other real-time travel information can be found on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia. VDOT updates are also on Facebook and the district’s Twitter account, @VaDOTLynchburg.
