LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED ON ROUTE 29 NEAR ALTAVISTA
Work will replace stormwater pipe

LYNCHBURG – Operations to repair a stormwater pipe under Route 29 near Altavista in Campbell County will result in a change in traffic pattern for motorists and may result in minor delays.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close one lane of Route 29, just north of Big Otter River Bridge in each direction to accommodate construction equipment during this operation. One lane in either direction will remain open to traffic at all times.

Currently, the lane closures are planned as follows; however, this schedule may change due to weather or other issues. The most up-to-date information will be available by calling 511 or visiting www.511Virginia.org.

  • The southbound right/travel lane will be closed from September 17 to October 17 between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm every day, except Sundays.
  • The northbound right/travel lane will be closed at all times from September 28 to October 17.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution and follow the traffic signs and pavement markings while driving through this or any highway construction zone.
