MOTORISTS SHOULD USE CAUTION DURING MORNING COMMUTE
Icy conditions possible

LYNCHBURG- (4 am) Primary roads across the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are mainly wet this morning; however, motorists should continue to be alert to the presence of icy conditions. . 

Precipitation has continued in many locations throughout the overnight hours and temperatures remain near freezing.  Any moisture on surfaces, particularly bridges, overpasses and low lying areas, may freeze. 

Motorists need to be aware of the road conditions before they travel. VDOT recommends that you visit www.511virginia.org, and call 511 for more information.

In addition, motorists should be alert to the possibility of downed trees, limbs and other items and drive for the conditions – avoid sudden changes of direction, drive slowly and brake gently. .

The Lynchburg District is comprised of the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
