Rain? Snow? VDOT is ready

LYNCHBURG – Another round of wintry weather is taking aim on the Commonwealth and motorists must be alert to the possibility of wintry conditions late tonight and throughout the day tomorrow.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews for the Lynchburg District will be monitoring conditions today and will take steps necessary tonight and tomorrow to help increase traction for motorists who must drive on slick or snow-covered roadways.

If travel can be avoided during wintry conditions, motorists are encouraged to do so; however, if travel is necessary, motorists should check current road conditions by calling 511 or visiting before venturing out. In addition, drivers should pay particular attention to bridges, overpasses, ramps, and shady spots where ice may form first.

The Lynchburg District covers the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
