RAILING REPAIRS TO BE MADE TO US 29 SOUTH BRIDGE OVER RAILROAD IN CHATHAM AREA
One lane of US 29 will be closed during work

LYNCHBURG – Motorists should expect delays on Route 29 southbound in Pittsylvania County late next week (week of April 15) while repairs are made to the railing on the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad in the Chatham area, near the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex.

The bridge was struck by a vehicle earlier this year and the railing was damaged and needs to be repaired for the safety of the traveling public.  The work will require a lane closure; signs and other traffic control devices will be in place during these operations. Motorists are encouraged to be alert, slow down and watch for slow moving vehicles.

This structure is, also, the subject of a Design Public Hearing to be held on Tuesday, April 16 at the Chatham Office of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).  The open forum hearing will be held from 4-6 p.m.

For additional information, please contact VDOT’s Customer Service Center at 800-367-7623 (800-FOR-ROAD).
