ICY ROAD CONDITIONS POSSIBLE LATE MONDAY AND THROUGHOUT THE DAY ON TUESDAY
LYNCHBURG – Another round of wintry weather is taking aim on the Commonwealth and motorists must be alert to the possibility of icy conditions late tonight and throughout much of the day tomorrow.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews for the Lynchburg District will be monitoring conditions and will take steps necessary to help increase traction for motorists who must drive on icy roadways.
If travel can be avoided during icy conditions, motorists are encouraged to do so; however, if travel is necessary, motorists should check current road conditions by calling 511 or visiting www.511Virginia.org before venturing out. In addition, drivers should pay particular attention to bridges, overpasses, ramps, and shady spots where ice may form first.
The Lynchburg District covers the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
