VDOT TO HOST LOCATION & DESIGN HEARING FOR ROUTE 622 PROJECT IN CAMPBELL COUNTY
Meeting Scheduled for January 24

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will host a Location and Design Public Hearing regarding improvements to Route 622, Lynbrook Road in Campbell County on Jan. 24 from 4-6 p.m. at the Campbell County Technical Center, 194 Dennis Riddle Road, Rustburg.

The primary purpose of this project is to improve alignment and reconstruct a wider roadway (within the existing corridor and on new location) for Route 622 from Route 683 to Route 29.  This is the fourth construction project on Route 622 and, once completed, will provide citizens with additional improved access to Route 29, south of Lynchburg, a significant location of residential and commercial development in the county.

Approximately one-half of the project will be constructed on new alignment with minimal impacts to the traveling public.  Improvements will include alignment of Route 622 with the intersection of Lawyers and Waterlick Roads, better sight distance due to improved horizontal and vertical alignment and wider travel lanes and shoulders.

The approximately $12.5 million project could be advertised for construction in Sept 2016.

Additional information on the project can be viewed at VDOT’s Lynchburg District Office at 4219 Campbell Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501, 434-947-6559, 800-367-7623, TTY/TDD 711.  Please call ahead to ensure the availability of appropriate personnel to answer your questions.
