The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a location and design public hearing on a proposed interchange project on Odd Fellows Road at Routes 460/29 in the City of Lynchburg.  The hearing will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Information Technology Building, 3550 Young Place, Lynchburg, VA 24501.  An inclement weather date of Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. will be used if necessary.

This hearing is being held to provide an opportunity for citizens or organizations to give VDOT input on the proposed project.  The hearing will be held in an open-house format with no formal presentation given.  VDOT representatives will be present to discuss the proposed project and to answer questions.

The purposes of this project are to:

  • reduce the increasing congestion levels and heavy truck movements on Candler’s Mountain Road, including the intersection with Mayflower Drive
  • reduce traffic on Mayflower Drive and
  • provide industrial traffic a more direct entry to the primary east/west and north/south connectors to the Madison Heights Bypass.

Comments about the proposed project may be submitted at the hearing or until January 18, 2013  (January 20 if hearing is held on inclement weather date) by mailing them to Raina Rosado, P.E., Project Manager, Virginia Department of Transportation, 4219 Campbell Avenue, Lynchburg, Va., 24501.  Comments also can be emailed to lynchburginfo@vdot.virginia.gov.
