TRAFFIC ALERT: HEAVY TRAFFIC POSSIBLE FOR VIR RACE

Local motorists should be alert to the possibility of heavy traffic during a multi-day race series at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) from September 12-15, with the most significant increase in traffic expected for the feature event on Saturday, September 15.

Signs and other traffic control devices will be used to provide directional information to those attending the series.

Traffic using US Route 58 to the event will be directed to use a designated lane.

Traffic exiting the event:

  • To US Route 58, Danville and South Boston:  Race fans will be directed to Route 119 and north to US Route 58.
  • To North Carolina and other locations south of VIR:  Race fans will use NC Route 57 toward Milton and, then, NC Route 62 toward Yanceyville and other destinations.

Local traffic is encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible and to plan ahead for delays.
