SPEED LIMIT TO INCREASE ON PORTION OF ROUTE 29, AMHERST COUNTY

LYNCHBURG-The speed limit on a portion of Route 29 in Amherst County will increase from 65 miles per hour (mph) to 70 mph soon.

The speed limit on a portion of Route 29, more commonly known as the Monacan Parkway, from the southern end of the Monacan Bridge to the southern interchange in the Town of Amherst will legally change when new signage is erected between Feb. 27 and 29, weather permitting.

The speed limit change for this multi-lane, divided, limited access highway was approved after a traffic engineering study and an analysis of available and appropriate accident and law-enforcement data were conducted.
