LYNCHBURG—A request from the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors to restrict through trucks, truck and trailer and semitrailer combinations on portions of several roads has been approved.

The request asked that Route 665 (Rockford School Road), Route 634 (Blue Ridge Drive/Prospect Road) and Route T924 (East Hurt Road) between Route 40 (East Gretna Highway) in Pittsylvania County and Route 668 (Ricky Van Shelton Drive) in the Town of Hurt be restricted.  The restriction applies only to through truck traffic and not such vehicles with points of origin or destination along the affected routes.

Following the initial request, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) conducted a traffic study and analysis on the proposal and determined that the criteria established by the Commonwealth Transportation Board in considering through truck restrictions had been met.

Local VDOT staff will erect the proper signage as soon as those signs become available, likely within the next month.
