ROUTES 630 AND 631 TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY FOR RAIL WORK
Detours to be provided
LYNCHBURG – Motorists who normally use Routes 630 and 631 in Halifax County as part of their daily commute should plan for detours this week and next while Norfolk-Southern Railway performs maintenance work on their rail line.
Route 630 will be closed from the intersection with Route 603 to the end of state maintenance. The closure will take place on April 6 beginning at 8:00 a.m. and lasting approximately five hours. The road will reopen to traffic and will closure again on April 8 at 8:00 a.m. for paving.
During these operations traffic will be detoured via Route 631, Route 644 and Route 603.
Route 631 will be closed from the intersection with Route 630 to the intersection with Route 644. The closure will be in place beginning at 8:00 a.m. on April 7 and will reopen that evening. The road will close again on April 12 for paving.
During the Route 631 operations, motorists will use Routes 630, 603 and 644 as a detour.
The maintenance work will involve the cutting of existing pavement, replacement of the rails and replacement of pavement.
Appropriate traffic control devices will be used to alert motorists to the closure when it occurs.
