Bridge over Rucker’s Run to be rebuilt

LYNCHBURG — Beginning July 6, 2010, motorists in the Norwood area of Nelson County who normally use Route 654 (Cedar Creek Road) will face a traffic change that will last for an extended period.

Route 654 will be closed to through traffic between Route 661 (Phoenix Road) and Route 655 (Variety Mills Road).  The road is being closed so that the bridge over Rucker’s Run can be rebuilt.  The closure will last approximately 90 days and signs will be posted for detours.

A signed detour will be in place using Route 655 (Variety Mills Road), Route 662 (North Powell’s Island Road) and Route 661 (Phoenix Road).
