COMMUNITY BRIEFING TO BE HELD ON BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROJECTS

LYNCHBURG-- The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is offering the opportunity for citizens interested in three bridge superstructure replacement projects in Pittsylvania County to meet to discuss traffic impacts and construction.

Currently under construction is the Route 29 Business Bridge over Route 29 Bypass near Chatham.  This work is expected to be complete by mid-December 2010.

The next two structures to be done are the Route 685 Bridge over the Route 29 Bypass and the Route 694 Bridge over Route 29 Bypass.  Work on the Route 694 Bridge will begin in late-November, while work on the Route 685 structure is not anticipated to begin until January 2011.  Traffic information for both projects will be available at this meeting.

The briefing will be held on Thursday, November 4 from 5-7 .pm. at The Chatham Community Center, 115 South Main Street in Chatham.

No formal presentations will be made at the hearing; however, staff will be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions.
